Huertas to the SEC

David Huertas went back and forth last night between two schools and then decided to get his recruitment over with before July gets going next week.

David Huertas went back and forth last night between Florida and Louisville. In the end, the 6-4, 195-pound senior shooting guard at Arlington County Day (Fla.) opted for the Gators.

``It came down to the three-guard offense that Billy (Donovan) runs," Alvarez. "Also, his mom lives in Jacksonville - not too far from Florida."

Huertas, who averaged 21 points per game last season, also considered Miami. He fielded offers from Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, N.C. State, Virginia, Memphis, Florida State, St. John's, Arkansas and Kansas State, according to Alvarez.

``Billy loves him not just for his shooting ability, which everyone knows about," Alvarez added. "But for his competitive edge. He doesn't let you lose. His engine runs at a different level."

CAT TRACKS ANALYSIS: The Cats liked Huertas, but he wasn't a make or break recruit. Although he is one of the best shooters in the class, he wasn't the big wing that the Wildcats covet.
