Cats in the hunt for WR

Cedar Hills (Tx) WR Donnie Horton (6-2, 186, 4.5) has offers from Arizona, Utah and Oklahoma St. Donnie caught only seven passes for 103 yds last year--but says that he got the offers as the result of a stellar spring ball performance.

The Utes solidly lead the Cowboys, Wildcats, Boise St and LSU.

"I'm 60% sure I'll go to Utah," said Horton. "It's a big lead. I like Utah because they run shotgun and it's not really a party school, so you can focus on your studies and football. (WR) Coach (Billy) Gonzalez is recruiting me, and he says he likes my speed and size. I know (WR) Jordan Johnson--I used to run summer track with him; he's going to Utah this year."

So how do the other programs stack up?

"Oklahoma State has a better program, the most wins (of the schools recruiting me).

"At Arizona, there's the heat—I don't like that.

"Boise St isn't recruiting me, but if they did I'd listen for sure. There's just something about them that I like.

Don't expect an early pledge from the wide out.

"I'd like to decide at the end of the season, so that I can have time to explore my options."

He's got a lot of skills, and confidence, but knows he can still work on things.

"I have good size and speed. I don't give up," Horton said. "I've got serious talent. I'm working on my route running."
