The fact that he was the Co-DPOY in his league last year when he plays on the same team as the number one linebacker prospect in the nation, Luthur Brown, is quite a feat. Adrian is now claiming written offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, and Nebraska. "I think I have about twelve in all, but those are the only ones I can think of right now," said McCovey. "I know USC and UCLA wanted to offer, but I am not sure if they ever did."
He is looking very hard at six schools. "I'd say my top choices are Oklahoma, Oregon State, Arizona, Oregon, Nebraska, and USC. I do not have a leader."
His parents also do not have a preference on where he attends school.
The Cats' staff is making a great impression on him. "I really like my recruiting coach (Charlie Williams). I like that they are in the Pac Ten and that they have Stoops as their head coach now. I think I would have a good chance to start early if I went there."
Adrian says that UA and Florida State are recruiting him the hardest right now. Apparently, the Seminoles are really starting to show a lot of interest.
All schools like McCovey as a linebacker except Nebraska. They see him as a defensive end. He prefers to play linebacker.
This summer, Adrian only attended the USC skills camp and has no other plans.
He tells us his strengths and what he can stand to work on. "I am great at reacting to the ball. I am a very aggressive player. The thing I need to work on most is just getting bigger in the weight room."
McCovey carries a 2.5 core GPA and scored an 820 on his SAT. He is undecided on a major.
