Cats land California tackle

Arizona has landed another commitment. John Mackovic's club has a verbal agreement from Tanner Bell, a 6-7, 297 offensive tackle from Castroville, CA. Bell was in Tucson this weekend and didn't waste much time before giving the Wildcats a verbal commitment.

Bell was hearing from a lot of schools early on, but hurt his MCL the second game of the season and saw the interest vanish from a lot of teams. The Wildcats stayed with him and they're loyalty was a key reason for the commitment.

"Coach (Marty) Long and the University of Arizona stayed true," Bell said. "They called every single week."

Bell has seen most of the schools in the Pac-10 and Arizona was "by far" his favorite.

"I have a real strong feeling that Arizona is the team of the 2000's," said Bell. "I feel we're going to compete for the Rose Bowl. That's the place for me to become my best."

Bell is the type of big tackle that the Wildcats have lacked. Not only is he a big player, but he has quickenss and good footwork. As far as playing right away?

"I'll do whatever is good for the team."
