Joe Barresi is not yet positive what position he will play in Tucson. "Coach Stoops and Wolford have just told me that they like me along the offensive line. I can play any one of the positions. Right now at my school I am playing at guard and I am also the back-up center. I think that I could easily be a tackle, too. The coaches at U of A tell me that the guard position is the most open one so I might want to start there, but we'll see. I feel comfotbale playing any of them."
Joe committed to the Cats a couple days ago over offers from LSU, Louisiana-Monroe, and Wyoming. "I think Oklahoma was also close to offering and I was waiting on them for a while. My Brother is going there and we are twins so it would have been the thing to do. But, then I started thinking about it and decided that I like Coach Wolford and Coach Stoops, I like Tucson and the area surrounding it, and the program as a whole. The strength and conditioning coach was great and really Coach Wolford was the main selling point for me and I really respect Coach Stoops and what he did at OU and what he is trying to do at Arizona. So I didn't want to wait any longer and called the coaches to commit."
Berresi went on about the decision. "I have lived with my twin brother and in Oklahoma all my life so I thought maybe it was time that I went out on my own and experienced something new. It just seems like there is a lot more going on out there than there is an Oklahoma. If it was up to my dad I would have committed to Arizona a long time ago so him and my mom are really happy with the choice. I mean, my mom wouldn't have minded me staying closer to home but she understands and fully supports what I am doing."
Joe attended the Palo Alto Nike Combine, LSU, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M camps this summer. He even struck up a competitive relationship with another UA hopeful. "Ekom Udofia and I were really going at it at the Stanford camp. He would get the best of me, I would get the best of him, and it got really heated a couple times. At the end of the camp though we talked and we were cool. We developed a mutual respect for one another. I heard he was visiting U of A this weekend and I was even thinking of coming to town and talking to him about what I decided and talking to him about going there, too. I don't think I will be able to make it though with practice and school just getting started."
Joe will make his official visit to 'Zona September 18th for the Wisconsin game.
Barresi also plays defense at North and last year at tackle he recorded 28 tackles, five sacks, and three fumble recoveries.
He carries a 3.0 core GPA and scored a 24 on his ACT. Joe would like to major in Psychology with the intention of getting into Sports Psychology.
North gets their season kicked-off against Putman City North September 3rd.
