DeSoto duo comes up big

Wildcat recruits made a huge splash as DeSoto High School beat Euless Trinity 29-21 on Friday night. Future Wildcats Michael Thomas and Corey Hall made big plays in the win. They were just a few Wildcat recruits in action Friday night.

Michael Thomas scored twice in the win. He had an 87-yard punt return then sealed the win with a 46-yard interception return. Jackson also provided a diversion on another punt return for a score. Markel Jackson faked a reverse to Thomas and then scooted 90 yards for his own score.

Corey Hall forced a pair of turnovers and found the end-zone himself. He stripped the ball from a Trinity runner, then on the next possession he caught a batted ball and returned the interception for a touchdown.

"It's nice to have big-play guys," DeSoto coach Dave Meadows told the Dallas Morning News. Wildcat recruits Brian Jackson and Donald Horton also play for the Eagles.

It was a good thing that the offense and the special teams made plays because the offense mustered just 195 yards of offense and had just one scoring drive.

Other Wildcat recruits in action: Blake Kerley's South Garland squad lost 24-17 to Plano West. South Garland trailed 24-3, but scored 14 fourth quarter points to make things close. South Garland rushed for just 36 yards, but quarterback Derek Kent threw 55 times for 375 yards.

Xavier Kelley and Denton Ryan play on Saturday as part of a double header at SMU.

Daniel Borg and Ironwood Ridge beat Flowing Wells 41-0. The Nighthawks totaled 438 yards of offense.

Ekom Udofia's Chaparral team crushed Shadow Mountain 37-0. Chaparral QB Nick Neuenfeldt was 6 of 18 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Hightower beat Vince Oghobaase's Hastings team 19-14.

Berkner High School beat Horn 21-14. Wildcat DT recruit Trey Bryant plays for Berkner, while DE recruit Cordero Moore competes for Horn.

Most of the other Wildcat recruits get started next week.
