"I think there is a slim chance that I'll commit," said Horton. "I will need to compare it to something."
Though he may not commit, the DT prospect has no reservations about the Wildcats leading for his services. "They are my strong favorite. Watching them play this year it is pretty obvious that they need help on the defensive line. I would not have to wait 100 years to play there. I think I could be in the rotation by my sophomore year."
D-tackle is not the only spot Horton could make an impact at. "If it were up to me I'd play linebacker. I actually got switched to tight end on offense today, too. So I will be starting both ways even though we don't use the tight end that much."
Most schools see him as a d-end, except for Colorado. They have mentioned linebacker to him.
Horton now claims 17 offers and this month he has received phone calls from Kansas State, Washington State, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas Tech, UA, Missouri, and CU, among others. Defensive Coordinator Mark Stoops is recruiting him to Tucson.
He carries a 3.1 core GPA and scored a 17 on his ACT. The talented prospect would like to major in Psychology or Criminal Justice at his school of choice.
He has not scheduled any other visits at this time. DeSoto is off to a 3-0 start.
