Ahmu Now Gives Arizona the Upper Hand

"I liked it a lot," said Ahmu. "It was everything I thought it would be, and more. I got to hang out with Coach Tui and get a feel for him. That was good to do since he will be my position coach. The facilities were so great I couldn't believe it. All I have seen is my high school, so seeing something so nice was a shock to me. The dorms were brand new that they showed me. The team's equipment and just the overall facilities were awesome."

The UA coaches spoke with the D-tackle about possible playing time if he were to attend 'Zona. "Well, since Carlos Williams is a senior they don't really have anyone coming back to play next to big Paul Phillip. Coach Tui told me that if I were to come in and take care of business during the summer there is a chance I could start as a true freshman."

With his Arizona visit being so overwhelming, did Ahmu commit or think about committing? "I don't want to commit too early because I don't have anything to compare Arizona too, yet. I need to take my trips and compare all of the schools and then make my decision. I will tell you that Arizona has the upper hand right now."

The San Diego product has written offers from the UA, Washington State, and San Diego State. He knows of three other visits. "I am going to Colorado, I think, for the Oklahoma State game. That hasn't been finalized, though. After that weekend I am supposed to be heading to Washington State. I will go to UCLA for a visit after the season, probably in December. The last visit will be between Washington and USC."

Ahmu is starting at offensive tackle and defensive tackle for 0-3 Serra High. He has 30 tackles and four sacks on defense.

He carries a 3.3 core GPA and scored a 980 on his SAT. As for a major he says, "I was thinking about Radiology but I might want to change that to Nursing, or something in the Bio-Medical field."

Serra takes on Mira Mesa, this Friday.
