Arizona freshman football player Sheldon Watts has been hospitalized after being shot, according to sources close to the program.
Watts, a true freshman from Sugar Land, Texas, was apparently shot in the arm and abdomen. The severity of the injuries is not known, but sources say he is listed in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit at University Medical Center.
Sources say Watts was shot as an observer in an altercation at an off-campus party that included two other players. University and hospital officials would not comment on the situation.
Watts is redshirting this season, and did not accompany the team to the UCLA game in Los Angeles.
