E.J. Savannah Update

Bellevue (WA) LB E.J. Savannah (6-1, 215, 4.55) still denies a leader but favors Oregon (visited), Cal, Arizona (9/24 official trip), Arizona St and Washington (visited). All five schools have offered as well as Washington St, Oregon St, Duke and Colorado.

"I want to have a good enough reason to back up the statement as to who my leader is…I haven't taken a deep enough look at these schools to really know who I favor," says Savannah.

"It was very beneficial for me to officially visit Arizona and see them in a game. I really got to like the players and the coaching staff. The students there are really involved when it comes down to game time. I really like the atmosphere a lot too. They played a big game against Wisconsin that weekend and a huge storm passed through the stadium I remember…it was the first one they had while playing against Wisconsin in three years. I though it was a very unique happening.

"There was no low-point to the visit at all. Sheldon Watts (DL) was my host and I had fun just going around the campus and into the dorms, getting introduced to people. The coaches didn't pressure me to commit and I didn't indicate to them that I would commit.

"The program at Arizona is on the rise and I really like how they are a defense-oriented team. Coach (Mike) Stoops has done a great job with the defense.

"Oregon's coach (Don) Pellum is kind of similar to my LB coach right now. Coach Pellum lives blocks away from the campus--so that his players are able to visit him whenever. The Ducks' program is on the rise and heading in the right direction. I think some good things will be happening there, and they're also close to home.

"Cal is doing really good this year and I have to consider that. I want to be in a winning program and I want to win a bowl game--I know Cal can do it. They are known for their potent offense, but I want to make a name for myself on their defense if I were to go there. I know I could get noticed there if I stepped it up.

"I've got some friends that go to Arizona St and it would be beneficial to have that kind of establishment when I go to school. Their football team is doing well and they produce some good LBs.

"Washington is about 15 minutes away from where I live. It would be good to go there so that my mom could come to all the home games. The LB coach there really knows what he's doing, and I've also got some friends that go there."

Savannah will also officially visit Cal and Oregon--no dates.
