"I guess you could say he's one of the better players I have," laughed Mays. "He plays hard, he's real athletic and runs the floor real well for a big guy. He can hit the mid range jumper and put it on the floor a little, too."

Sure he needs to add weight and become more consistent, but anybody who has seen Arthur when he's got his full skill package on display wants him. Among his top schools are hometown SMU, Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas. However, the NBA has been mentioned as a possible destination on more than one occasion.
"This kid, he tries to take it one day at a time," said Mays. "He's into school right now and trying to enjoy that rather than thinking about the riches of the NBA."
Actually ask anybody who knows the kid, who goes by the nickname of "Slim Shady," and they'll tell you he is pretty shy and isn't looking for attention. Because of that, you won't see him do too many interviews and according to Coach Mays, they'll try to avoid discussing schools very much until the end of his season, which opened on Wednesday night with a 69-53 win over Lewisville (Texas) High – Arthur combined with star teammate Kevin Rogers for 48 of those 69 points.
"Darrell's not really the type of kid whose into the whole recruiting thing," said. "He's not like any other kid I've had. I've had some guys who love the attention and look for it. His whole demeanor and personality is different though it doesn't phase him at all."
Recently Kansas and Texas were named slight leaders over Arizona, but North Carolina has come calling in recent weeks and the Tar Heels are making a push.
"He (Williams) indicated that he loves everything about him, how hard he plays, his demeanor, everything," said Mays. "He'd take Darrell today if he wanted to come. I talked to Coach Robinson recently and they have our schedule and will be out to see him."
CAT TRACKS' ANALYSIS: The Cats have been on Arthur for quite awhile. Josh Pastner spotted the Texan years ago and has been on him for some time. He has long listed the Cats and they have been near the top of his list along with the likes of Kansas and Texas. As the recruiting process goes on expect all the big names to be involved.
