Peoria LB Makes Everyone Better

Marcus Rodriguez was one of around 30 players invited to UA's junior day a couple weekends ago. He could not make the affair because he had a wrestling tournament. He is currently heading to the state quarterfinals after beating the state's 6th and 8th ranked wrestlers in Tucson last weekend. On the football field, Rodriguez is a tackle machine as he posted 122 last fall.

The Peoria linebacker added two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one sack on his way to earning first team all-region honors.

He is currently looking at three schools; Arizona, Arizona State, and Oregon. "I like the two in-state schools for a lot of the same reasons," said Rodriguez. "They are both close and are both good programs. I like Arizona because it is close, but it still a bit further from home. I like how everything is ran at Arizona State. I have been to some games there."

Rodriguez is currently 6-0 1/2 and believes he'll make it to 6-1 or 6-2 and project as an outside linebacker. He believes he has an aura about him on the field. "I know the game well so I am a smart player. I know everything that is happening on the field. I am the kind of player that can make everyone around me better."

He carries a 3.8 core GPA and will be taking the ACT test soon. Rodriguez would like to major in Medicine in hopes of becoming an Anesthesiologist.
