Moon Valley Junior Has Cats in Top Three

Linebacker prospect Isaiah Smart is one of many talented seniors-to-be on the defending state champ Moon Valley Rockets. Like his teammates, Laron Harrington and Jeff Jones, Smart is taking a hard look at the Wildcats.

Smart may have been the best pass rushing specialist in the state last fall as he recorded 19 sacks from his defensive end spot. He added 104 tackles, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He was named second team all-region and second team all-state for his efforts.

Obviously with his size, he will not project as an end in college. "I will probably be an outside linebacker," Smart claimed. "I think I have the speed to play that position."

The future linebacker believes he has a great work ethic along with an innate ability for the gridiron. "I am the hardest working player out there. I have a natural talent for the game."

He is looking hard at three main schools early in his recruitment. "I like Arizona, Arizona State, and USC. Arizona has a great program and I like the weather down there. It is a little bit better weather than we have in Phoenix."

Smart is unsure of what summer camps he will be attending.

He carries a 3.8 core GPA and is taking a test in May. Smart would like to major in Dentistry.
