Another Look: Cats over Aggies

BOISE - Believe it or not, but the Cats have never beaten Utah State. Of course they have not played each other since 1963. It was also a milestone win for Salim Stoudamire and Channing Frye.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Channing Frye. The senior center scored 17 and pulled down 10 rebounds. He added five blocks and was a major reason the Cats had the strong second half. It was his seventh double-double of the season.

PLAY OF THE GAME
Frye runs the floor and is rewarded with the ball near the top of the key. He takes two steps and slams home a monstrous one-handed slam.

TURNING PONT
Down three at the half, the Cats open the second half with a 16-2 run.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
It is the first win for the Wildcats over in four tries. The Cats and Aggies had not met since 1963.

SO MUCH FOR UP-TEMPO
The Cats were held to under 30 points for the sixth time this season, but it hasn't happened since the Marquette game in December. Arizona is also 8-3 in games where they trail at the half.

BELOW AVERAGE
The Aggies were led the nation in field goal percentage coming into the game, but were held to just 36.4%, almost 15% less than their season average.

CENTURY MARK
Channing Frye and Salim Stoudamire became part of the 16th consecutive senior class to win 100 games in their Arizona careers.

REBOUNDING EDGE
The Cats edged the Aggies in rebounding by one, 33-32. The Cats are 22-2 when they have that edge.

BAD SEED
14 seeds have yet to win in the 2000's. Both Utah State and Winthrop lost on Thursday. The last time a 14-seed won was in 1999 when Weber State shocked North Carolina.

AGAINST THE GRAND CANYON STATE
The Aggies have played a team from Arizona four times in the NCAA Tournament. They are 2-1 against Arizona State, playing them three times in the 60's.

INTERUPTING
Every time the Wildcat fans would attempt to chant "U-of-A" the Aggie fans would counter with "Ut-Tah-State".

NO RESPECT
Lute Olson was denied access to the court on Wednesday because he lacked his ID. He did not have it with him and had to send someone to the hotel to get it before he could get on the floor at the Taco Bell Arena.

TOUGH GO OF IT
The Aggies are 4-12 all-time in the Tournament. They lost by three to Kansas in 2002 and beat Ohio State in 2001. They have been in four of the last six NCAA's.
