Arizona Offers Coach Tuiasosopo's Nephew

Conan Amituanai was the only junior in attendance at Arizona's elite camp last summer. He was virtually unblockable throughout the event and was offered by the Cats soon after. Many other schools are beginning to take a hard look at him.

Height: 6-4
Weight: 280
From: Long Beach, California
High School: Poly

As a junior, he played at Los Alamitos and started at fullback and saw spot-duty at defensive tackle. Amituanai was named second team all-league on offense. He has transferred to Long Beach Poly for his senior year to play with his brother who is a sophomore quarterback.

This fall he may start at both tight end and defensive end.

"I am competitive and am always trying to work my hardest," said Conan Amituanai. "I play with a free mind and just go out there and have fun."

Coach Mike Tuiasosopo is the brother of Amituanai's mom. Arizona is the current favoite for his services. "It is real cool out there. All of the coaches are close. They play golf together and have dinner together, a lot. They are all very good friends. The players are nice and so is the campus."

Other schools making an impression on the Poly product include USC and Tennessee. "My cousin Titus Tuiasosopo went to USC and I have always liked them. They were my favorite team growing up. It is close to home and I watch them play a lot. I love the energy their team and players have. Everytime I see them I want to be out on the field with them."

Amituanai is also hearing from Colorado, Colorado State, LSU, Boston College, Fresno State, and Boise State.

He carries a 2.5 core GPA and is taking the SAT on May 7th. Amituanai would like to major in something that has to do with Business.
