Cats Co-Lead for Cate

The Wildcats are hurting badly for quarterback depth. Therefore, they have targeted a few of the top signal callers around the nation to offer. One of them, Alex Cate, has been very receptive to the staff and it appears that at this point UA has as good a shot as any of garnering his services.

Height: 6-2

"I have written offers from Nebraska, Arizona, Colorado, and Kansas," said Alex Cate. "I am looking at those schools and I also like Georgia, Iowa and Cal. Nebraska and Arizona are the ones I am looking at the hardest right now.

"I have been speaking with coach (Nebraska Head Coach Bill) Callahan at Nebraska and coach (Offensive Coordinator Mike) Canales at Arizona. I like a lot of the same things about those programs. They both have good coaches and they are both on their way back to the top."

As a junior, Cate threw for 3,586 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in completing 196 out of 379 attempts. He also had one rushing touchdown. Cate was named first team all-state. "I read defenses well so I can recognize a lot of things. I have good feet and am technically sound."

Cate will attend a combine in May, and also plans on attending a camp at Georgia. "I am not sure about any others right now."

His father played for Utah, but the Utes do not appear to have a shot at him. "I have spoken with the coaches there and they are nice, but I am really looking to go out-of-state. My father played for Utah. My parents are mainly leaving this decision up to me."

He carries a 3.3 core GPA just took the ACT. Cate would like to major in Business.
