As a junior, Demetrius Stewart had 17 catches for over 300 yards and one touchdown. On defense, at strong safety, he had 20 tackles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. "I am a hard worker that likes to involve everyone around me," he says.
Maryvale Head Football Coach Tom Bruney says of Stewart, "He is one of the best football players we've had here. He might be our best two-way player. He is good in the slot on offense and has great range on defense. He is like a center fielder out there."
The athlete is originally from Torrance, California and says that the U of A kind of reminds him of home. "It rains more down there than it does in Phoenix. We went down there to play Canyon Del Oro last year so I am kind of familiar with it. Arizona is in my top three right now with Arizona State and USC. USC is my favorite."
He recently attended the ASU Junior Day and will attend the Scout.com combine in L.A., May 14th.
Stewart carries a 2.3 core GPA and will be taking the SAT on June 4th. He would like to major in Biology.
