RB likes Dawgs, Cats, Bruins

Rancho Cordova (Calif.) running back James Montgomery (5-10, 195, 4.4) says Washington leads slightly over Arizona, UCLA, Arizona State and USC. The Bruins and Trojans have not offered.

"I've got great speed and vision and I do my cuts real well. I'm just looking to get better at everything this season," said Montgomery, from Cordova High School.

"I like Washington just slightly over the other schools in my top five right now. I took and unofficial visit there back in January and I really felt comfortable with its surroundings and the program. The coaches there are really cool, and they just picked up J.R. Hasty (running back), so the competition that I'd experience there would just make me better. I want to be pushed in practice and I like competition.

"I like Arizona right now because a lot of people from this area went pro from that program like Teddy Bruschi and Lance Briggs," he said. "I also like the hot weather there.

"UCLA is my #3 school right now. I really love the L.A. area…that's a nice place right there. It's also a good school all-around. My friend, Ryan Moya (tight end), committed there, so I'd know someone if I ended up committing with them. And I've been to the campus before. I really like it…it's huge."

Montgomery has been to USC's JR Day and this summer he plans on camping at Washington, Arizona and USC. "I'm looking to take my official visits and wait until the end of the season to commit," said Montgomery.

Other offers include Washington State and Northwestern.

"Both Arizona State and Northwestern offered me on the same day," he said.

Final JR (6-3-1) stats: 215 carries/1915 yds/35 TDs; Bench: 305/ Squat: 425/Power Clean: 225; Vert Jump: 33"
