"I have written offers from Arizona, Notre Dame and BYU," said Tyler Lyon. "LSU was at C.O.C today (College of the Canyons in Valencia) and I was out there throwing the ball and coach (LSU wide receivers/passing game coordinator Todd) Monken told my father (C.O.C head coach) that they had an offer for me.
"So with them getting in the mix - my top four are Stanford, Notre Dame, Arizona, and LSU. Notre Dame and Arizona are recruiting me the hardest."
The UA offered Lyon something before any other school did.
"They told me I could play both sports there. I also play baseball and they would have no problem with me doing that. I think Arizona has a solid program. My father is a baseball umpire and he went to Arizona for a Pac-10 game and while he was there he met with the whole coaching staff. He sat with them to watch my highlight tape and broke everything down.
"I run well for how big I am. I have good mobility, a good arm and good size. I am still kind of learning everything since last year was my first as a quarterback."
Coach Canales is after him for the Cats.
Lyon will get an up-close look at UA himself when he heads to Tucson for the elite camp later this summer. He also plans on going to the Stanford and Notre Dame one-day camps.
The signal caller carries a 3.3 core GPA and scored an 1110 on his Pre-SAT. He would like to major in Business.
