We spoke with Thompson last night and asked about the coaches that have been out to see him at his high school over the last several weeks.
When we asked him which program has been recruiting him the hardest to date, Thompson replied, "Probably Pepperdine. And Arizona State – their head coach came out to my school. But I'm really wide open right now – I don't have any real leaders."
Thompson said he uncertain about the issue of leaving the west.
"Me and my mom have been talking about it lately," said Thompson. "Some parts of me want to stay home and play in front of my mom, but other parts of me want to go away and see new places."
We asked Thompson if he has given any thought to the timing of his decision.
"I'll probably decide sometime around September," said Thompson.
Thompson told us he has a 2.5 GPA and he'll take the SAT this Saturday. CAT TRACKS' ANALYSIS: Right now Thompson is just a player the Cats are keeping an eye on. They still have an 'A' list of bigs that are higher priorities right now. However, a big summer could propel Thompson into another level of recruitment.
