With the successful recruitment of Los Angeles area backer Adrian McCovey, the Cat coaches are again trying to go to LaLa land for a linebacker and they have offered quite possibly the best around.
"I don't exactly know how many offers I have right now, I haven't counted them yet," commented the 6-foot-4 inch, 230 pound linebacker. "I know that I have a top six and that they have all offered so that is what I am looking at."
Those six schools, in no particular order, are Arizona, USC, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Miami. Johnson says that he is not favoring any one school just yet and plans on making the most of the recruiting process.
"No sir, I don't have any favorites out of that group," he said. "Out of those I still don't know which five I will visit officially. They are all equal right now until I have a chance to look into them and do research on them all."
When it comes to choosing his school Johnson says that the first priority is getting a good education. Johnson was also quick to add the next two most important things.
"I am going to find a school where I can get my education because it is very important to me," he quipped. "I also want a chance to play and make an impact early and obviously my goal is to make it to the NFL so I will go to a school with a good history of sending players to the next level."
When it comes to Arizona Johnson admitted that he does not know much about the Wildcats, but he is looking forward to checking them out further.
"I know they have a new coach and are an improving program," Johnson said. "I know they have good academics and I know that I like coach Tui quite a bit. He is a real cool guy and he is all about business and I like that. I am all about business too."
Although he has yet to narrow things down any further, Johnson did say that Arizona looks good, as of right now, to get an official visit.
"Right now I would visit Arizona because I really want to check it out there," he said. "I have not been there and I want to check it out and see what is up with it. But all the schools are equal right now and I have to research all of the schools."
Mark Johnson stated that he is 6'4, 230 pounds, runs a 4.6 forty, benches 300, squats 550 and has a 2.5 GPA. He would like to major in Psychology in college.
