Recruiting picking up for Miramonte Lineman

As the sun finally made its presence felt on the Memorial Stadium field just after noon on Saturday, Miramonte HS (Orinda, CA) OL Rob Sullivan began to assert himself and displayed the athleticism and work ethic that is drawing the attention of schools across the country.

"I'm getting a lot of letters from something like 15 or 20 schools," a humble Sullivan told following one-on-one drills with the other lineman in attendance. "I'm really liking the letters a lot, because I'm considering colleges I've never really thought of before. Schools like Florida State and Northwestern."

Letters are pouring in from most of the Pac 10 (mainly Cal, Oregon and Arizona), Florida State, Miami, and Northwestern.

Sullivan has a long and lean frame, measuring in at 6'4" and 265 pounds, but he has added fifteen pounds to his frame since the end of football season. "Right now most are looking at me as an offensive lineman, but I can play defense too," Sullivan said with a grin.

As far as the Berkley combine was concerned, Sullivan showed some quick feet (4.53 20-yard), ranking as one of the quickest lineman. He more than held his own against the defensive lineman in the one-on-ones, matching up against McClymonds standout DL Derrick Hill, competing to a draw on several occasions.

"It was really good competition," Sullivan said with raised eyebrows. "I liked the one-on-ones a lot. It was good because we got a lot of reps.

"Last year at the Texas combine we only did one set and only against one guy. I liked this a lot more."

When the discussion turned to the camps he plans on attending, Sullivan said he still has some thinking to do. "I'm gonna talk it over with my coach, because we're going to a team camp in Reno," Sullivan said. "I just want to hang out with my team and do the weightlifting program. We're doing three hours a day four times a week, but I plan on taking in at least two or three camps."

Sullivan said the most likely schools to see him at their camps are USC, Arizona, Cal and Oregon. Keep an eye on this athletic lineman from the Golden State.
