Apache Junction Lineman Cody Anderson

In a very good year for lineman on both sides of the ball within the state borders, a player that needs to be mentioned right off the bat is Cody Anderson. The Apache Junction star already has four offers and should be garnering many more in the future. He is also a standout basketball player that has always been fond of the Cats.

As a junior, Cody Anderson had 49 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries. On offense, he caught six passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Anderson was named first team all-region on defense. He was also a first team all-state selection in basketball. "I am not the strongest player but I will not be beat by the competition," he says. "It does not matter how good they are. I play the game with a lot of heart."

He is a two-way star for Apache Junction so schools see him at different positions. "Of the schools that have offered me, I know Wyoming likes me as an offensive tackle and Colorado State likes me as a tight end. I have played at offensive tackle, tight end, defensive tackle, and defensive end, so I can play any position. I kind of prefer defensive end, but I will play wherever I am needed."

Anderson plays center on the basketball team at Apache Junction. He also plays for the Arizona Stars club team. "I might be recruited in basketball. I have always been an Arizona fan in basketball so it would be great to play for them. I am a big Lute Olson fan. I wouldn't mind playing football there, but I would love to play basketball there."

The U of A is one of the seven schools he is currently interested in. "I like Washington State, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Wyoming, Colorado, and Colorado State."

He carries a 3.15 core GPA and would like to major in Physical Therapy. Anderson is re-taking the SAT on August 6th.
