Lute Olson All-Star Classic Returns

For the second time in three years, the University of Arizona Department of Athletics will host its version of a family reunion, as members of the men's basketball family have been invited back to town for the Lute Olson All-Star Classic. An All-Star dinner and showcase basketball game highlight this reunion weekend on Aug. 13-14, 2005.

"The inaugural All-Star Classic we held two years ago was a big success, and we wanted to continue this tradition of highlighting our alumni and inviting our fans to participate in a weekend full of events," said Arizona head coach Lute Olson.

The celebration tips off on Saturday, Aug. 13, with the All-Star Dinner. The event, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. MST at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa, will honor Arizona's 1988 Final Four team. There will be a silent auction featuring items such as pro jerseys, autographed basketballs and an Arizona Basketball locker. Fans will have the opportunity to bid to sit with their favorite All-Star. Tickets for the dinner are $175 per person or $1,750 for a table of 10. For more information on the dinner and auction call (520) 621-2331.

The weekend concludes Sunday, Aug. 14, with the Lexus-Infiniti Shootout at 1 p.m. MST. This regulation alumni basketball game at McKale Center will include many of the great names to wear an Arizona uniform, including a number of current NBA standouts. 2004-05 UA men's basketball season ticket holders will receive first priority to purchase their current seat locations only by July 15. Applications for the weekend's events will be mailed to men's basketball season ticket holders the week of June 20. Tickets for this event will go on sale to the general public on July 18. For ticket information please call (520) 621-CATS or visit arizonaathletics.com.

The Lute Olson All-Star Classic is a production of Enterprise Communications, Ltd. As one of 10 NBA-sanctioned charity games, the Lexus-Infiniti Shootout will not be affected by ongoing NBA labor negotiations.
