Alex Stepheson Update

He may be from California, but Harvard-Westlake big man Alex Stepheson is getting attention from both coasts. The athletic power forward was invited to the NBA Camp in Virginia and gave an update on his recruitment.

Alex Stepheson has all the physical tools to become a big time player at the next level. The strength is there, he just needs to play hard all the time. He did have two very nice one handed jams on the fast break.

Stepheson, who averaged 18 points and 14 rebounds this past season, is taking his time with the recruiting process and has a list of six schools that he is strongly considering. The 6-foot-9 big man listed North Carolina, UConn, Arizona, Georgia Tech, Washington, and Wake Forest.

"It's going well," Stepheson responded when asked about the recruiting process. "We're not really going to make a decision until November or October some time."

Stepheson said that he plans on taking his official visits in the fall. However, he recently took a visit to Winston-Salem to check on Wake Forest's campus, and the big guy was impressed with a few things that Skip Prosser and co. could offer.

"I liked the visit. It was kind of small, excluded and compact," Stepheson explained. "They have great academics and a great coach."

Each school he likes is a little different than the other, so is there anything in particular Stepheson is looking for?

"Good academics, a good basketball program, a good coach and just a good situation where I fit in and feel comfortable."
