For the second time in three games Arizona's bats fell silent to the Long Beach State pitching staff. The Wildcats dropped their sixth straight road game of the season, 6-0, to the 49ers while managing only three hits in the game.

LBSU freshman starter Jered Weaver won the first game of his career in allowing just one hit over seven innings. He struck out eight Wildcat hitters and walked none. Arizona starter Marc Kaiser (3-1) picked up his first loss of the season, giving up all six runs in five innings of work.

Defensive replacements Ken Riley and Pat Reilly tallied two of Arizona's three hits in the game, while Brad Hassey was the only Wildcats starter to come up with a base knock.
