Kevin Love, the 6-9 junior center from Lake Oswego (Ore.) High, and the #3-ranked player in the class of 2007, said he has three schools that are his favorites.

"Arizona, North Carolina and UCLA," Love said. "Those are the three that are probably leading by a little bit and that are recruiting me the hardest."

He also listed Connecticut, Duke, Kansas, and Washington as schools he's currently considering along with the three favorites.

Love said he'd consider a few factors pretty significantly in his college decision. "The tradition is important," Love said. "You want to go somewhere that has a tradition of winning and fan support. The style of play. How they use their big men. Do they get the ball inside a lot? Coaches. I want to have a good chemistry with my coach. And academics are important."

When asked if location was a factor, Love said, "Distance isn't a factor, but I want to go somewhere that I'm comfortable."

He said that the Los Angeles area has a unique draw for him. "Most of my family are in the L.A. area," Love said. "My dad (Stan Love) played for the Lakers. I was born in Southern California, so I feel pretty comfortable there."

But in terms of the influence of his family, Love said, "It means something to me, what they think. But they know I'll do what's best for me and they'll be fine with that."

There is possibly one other factor Love admitted that could influence his choice of school, his AAU teammate Kyle Singler, the elite 6-8 forward also from Oregon. "We're best friends," Love said. "I miss playing with him (Singler is out with a knee injury). We've talked about going to the same school together. It could be that we just end up at the same school, and if we did, it'd be no surprise."

Love said that the new NBA rule dictating age restriction has changed his way of thinking, naturally. He said, "I'll admit it, I want to go to the NBA, and would have thought about it right out of high school. But now that I know I have to go to college, it's good. It's a relief for my mother, because she really wants me to go to college and get a degree."

At currently 6-9 and 250 pounds, Love has grown a couple of inches in the last few years. "Yeah, I'm at about 6-9 and a half right now, but I'm still growing. I think I'll make 6-10."

Love said he has a 3.0 GPA and hasn't taken the SAT so far.
