McClellan Ruled Ineligible

University of Arizona men's basketball player Jawann McClellan is not eligible to compete for the fall semester.

McClellan, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound sophomore guard from Houston, Texas, will miss the Wildcats' first seven games of the season. If he meets eligibility requirements during the fall semester, he could regain his eligibility for Arizona's Dec. 17 game at Utah.

"It's unfortunate that I can't play," said McClellan, "but I'm working hard to get myself eligible and get back on the court."

McClellan averaged 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game in 2004-05. He shot 46.8 percent from the field and was the only freshman to appear in all 37 contests.
