With the Arizona Basketball program opening things up tonight on campus with the McKale Madness festivities it is the students first chance to see the 2005-2006 Wildcats in action. The McKale Center will obviously be raucous, as it should be when the tradition rich Wildcats start a new season. But, tonight the Zona Zoo could aid the football program while they get their first look at the basketball team's first official practice.

In all the excitement tonight at McKale there will be a junior college football player in attendance witnessing all that Arizona Athletics has to offer. Scottsdale Community College All-American defensive end Louis Holmes will be in the house to check things out. This is going to be Holmes' eleventh trip to the Old Pueblo.

"I am going down to Tucson again tonight for that McKale Madness thing," said Holmes. "I am looking forward to it. My team plays at Pima tomorrow but a teammate and I are going down early just to see everybody again and I will be at the first half of the football game tomorrow too."

With Holmes making yet another special trip to Tucson to check out one of his final schools it is imperative that the Zona Zoo students make him feel extremely welcome both tonight and during tomorrow's game against Stanford.

In recent years the student sections have played a much bigger role than people think in the world of recruiting. The die hard nature of the student sections make recruits feel welcome with chants of their names and making them feel the extreme passion for their school's athletic teams.

Make no mistake about it; Louis Holmes is the Arizona Football program's NUMBER ONE junior college recruiting target and likely their NUMBER ONE overall target in this year's class. To add to it, he is bringing a friend along that will be recruited next year. The Zona Zoo MUST make these two studs feel welcome and MUST show the passion for Wildcat athletics that everybody knows it holds.

Also at tomorrow's football game will be Colin Baxter and Cody Anderson, who have both already committed to the Cats, local studs Glyndon Bolasky and Brooks Reed and maybe even a surprise or two.

Starting tonight the Zona Zoo must show up loud and proud and make Louis Holmes feel the passion for Wildcat sports. And tomorrow Holmes and the other recruits should be wowed with the passion as well. Oh and I guess I should mention the five basketball studs that will be in town for tonight's festivities also.

Zona Zoo needs to stand up and be loud tonight and tomorrow. Make Holmes and the rest of the visitors feel what it means to be a Wildcat. Be loud and be proud. Be students. Be the ZONA ZOO!
