Lance Thomas shifts his visits

Lance Thomas is beginning to string together a slate of official visits. He's back on the visit trail this weekend with a Big East trip and has a few more in the works.

St. Benedict's forward Lance Thomas (No. 19, Scout.com) is taking an official visit this weekend to Rutgers, according to his high school coach Dan Hurley.

"He has scheduled official visit this weekend," Hurley said. "He and Eugene Harvey are visiting Rutgers officially. The weekend after that Lance is going to Florida and then it's my understanding that he is setting up visits to either Duke or Wake Forest after that. At this point, I'm pretty sure Duke would be the next weekend and then Wake the following weekend. It looks like four straight weekends of visits."

Remember, Arizona had Thomas on campus this fall already as they were his initial official visit. Most programs would like to see Thomas make a fall decision and his current list of visits reflects a willingness on his part to make that happen.

"All (visits) in this order to try to make an early decision if you feel good about it," Hurley said of his star forward.

Mike Sullivan of NewYorkInsider.com adds:

Lance Thomas, a talented 6-foot-9 forward from St. Benedict Prep in Newark, New Jersey, told us tonight his list has been cut. "Georgia Tech got a commitment," said Thomas. "So they are out."

Connecticut was also eliminated after it received commitment from Stanley Robinson. "I am going to visit Rutgers this weekend," Thomas said tonight. "I want to see the campus again. I would also like to see how they practice."

Thomas has been to the Rutgers campus several times. "I know a lot about the school and the team," he said. "It's a chance to learn more."

Thomas also stated he is interested in other schools. "I like Duke, Wake Forest, and Florida," he said. "I plan on visiting Florida on November 4th. I have seen the Duke campus (unofficially). But I haven't seen the Wake Forest campus yet."

Lance was unsure when he might take another visit to Duke or take an official trip to Wake Forest. "I don't have a leader," he said. "I have already been to the campus of Arizona. It was real nice."

Thomas said he wasn't sure when he might make a decision.
