Hitting the Road

Arizona and Arizona State have not gone head to head too often this recruiting season. Both have landed their share of in-state athletes, but to win in the Pac-10 schools have to recruit more than the Grand Canyon State. The Cats and Devils are competing for a few players, including a talented California receiver.

California wide receiver DeLaShaun Dean (6-4, 190, 4.6) will be visiting Arizona on December 10 and Arizona State on December 16. The only official visit he's taken thus far was to Colorado on November 25.

"I loved the people at Colorado," Dean said. "The facilities are also great. Overall, it was a really good experience. I like how welcomed I felt and it's just a very good college atmosphere.

"If I had to pick a leader right now it would be Colorado. I've already been on my visit and I have a great relationship with the coaches. I really like my recruiting coaches Craig Bray and Darian Hagan. We just clicked from the very beginning."

The Buffs lead slightly over Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and Oregon State. All of his favorites have offered.

"I really want to play early wherever I go," Dean said. "But basically all the coaches said I'd have a shot to play early, so we'll see what happens."

Dean has already had in-home visits from Arizona and Oregon as well.

"The Arizona coaches have told me that I'd be able to play early. They also talked with me about what a great environment the school is in," Dean said. "The Oregon wide receiver coach (Dan Ferrigno) said that I'd fit in well with their offense. He also stressed that their goal for me would be to get my degree."
