Rodgers dismissed from team

Rumors of Wildcat guard Chris Rodgers leaving the program have followed him since he was a freshman. The senior guard who has been in and out of Lute Olson's doghouse was dismissed from the team on Wednesday.

"After long and serious deliberation, the men's basketball staff has dismissed Chris Rodgers, effective immediately, from the team," Olson said. "It should be noted that Chris has earned his college degree in three and a half years and that we wish him much success in all future endeavors."

Rodgers has had his run ins with the Wildcat coaching staff since he arrived on campus. He was suspended for parts of the Houston game this season and was suspended for the Washington State game last season.

His career has been marred with inconsistent play and he has had a number of curious statements to the press regarding the coaches.

"There is a lot of confusion as far as what the coach wants me to do when I am out there," Rodgers said.

Rodgers also questioned his playing time.

"We are a better team when I am out there," Rodgers boasted. "Everyone can see that."

Rodgers was averaging 10.8 points a game in making 13 starts. For his career he averaged 6.2 ppg in 110 games.
