Cats tenative pre-season schedule

The Wildcats are a little more than a month away from starting fall camp for football. Rookies report on August 5th and Fall Camp officially kicks off on August 11th. The Wildcat coaches are busy preparing for the start of the season and the opportunity to improve on a 5-6 campaign.

A full practice schedule has not yet been released, but coach John Mackovic mentioned that the players have been working out early in the morning and a that may lead to a change in the practice schedule for two-a-days.

"They are getting off to a good start in the mornings," Mackovic said of the early morning enthusiasm. "WE may adjust our morning practices in two-a-days. We may start earlier and allow the players to get more rest in the middle of the day."

The season will kick off with Pac-10 media day on July 31st. Mackovic and quarterback Jason Johnson will represent the University in Los Angeles.

Rookie report six days later, but a number of them are already enrolled in Summer School and working out with the team.

"It allows a recruited athlete to work with some supervision," Mackovic said. "It is especially critical for weight training. Sometimes on their own they put themselves at risk."
