Babbitt In No Hurry

Luke Babbitt is one of the elite 2008 prospects in the country. Not surprisingly, Babbitt's early list is filled with some of the best programs in college basketball...

Luke Babbitt, 6-7 SO PF Reno (Nev.) Galena, is the top-rated power forward in the West Coast class of 2008. A versatile player, Babbitt can score from the low-post or the three-point line. He's got an excellent stroke, as well as advanced footwork in the paint. He's going to be a very tough match-up at the college level. He'll take bigger players away from the basket and post up small players on the low block We expect Babbitt to be recruited by elite programs across the country.

We spoke with Babbitt over the weekend in Las Vegas and asked about the programs he's heard from to date.

"UCLA, Washington, Arizona, Gonzaga, Nevada, Duke and Georgetown have been showing interest for awhile now," said Babbitt. "A couple new ones that came in lately are Illinois, Syracuse and Texas."

Babbitt had early offers from Nevada, UNLV and USC, but told us that no new schools have offered.

Babbitt isn't looking to make a quick decision.

"I'm in no rush to decide," said Babbitt. "It doesn't make sense to rush into anything."

Babbitt is a very good student, with an overall GPA of 3.9.

WILDCAT INSIDER SLANT: UA coaches watched him this past weekend in Vegas. He missed the Las Vegas Easter Classic playing in Germany for an Under 17 All-Star team. He's truly and elite talent and a player the Cats should remain on.
