Cats in top 5 for top Texas QB

Even though the Wildcats will have Willie Tuitama and Tyler Lyon for the next few years the Arizona coaching staff knows that they need to add another quarterback in the 2007 class. Willie and Tyler may be around but seniors Adam Austin and Kris Heavner will be one after the 2006 season which makes the position a vital need for this year's recruiting class.

One of the top targets for the Arizona coaching staff, actually the top target, is Brenham, Texas signal caller Jarrett Lee. Lee is being recruited by just about everyone right now as he is in double digits in offers.

"I think I am up to 15 or so offers now," admitted the East Texas gunslinger. "I can't remember who they are all from but I know that I have 15."

For Lee all the attention has kind of come as a surprise. Even after a stellar junior season he aid that he did not expect the kind of attention that he has garnered so far.

"All of this is completely unexpected," Lee said with a laugh. "I thought I was a pretty good quarterback but I certainly did not expect all of this attention and all of these offers. It is a fun thing to go through but it is a huge decision to make and there is a lot of pressure."

As has become the custom with most quarterbacks, Lee says that he is pretty sure that he will make a final decision some time during the summer so he can go into his senior season with a clear head.

"I am definitely going to have my decision done before the season starts," he said. "I don't really want to have to go through next season having to worry about making a huge decision and taking visits to schools all over the country."

Since he wants to make a decision before his season, Lee said that he ha his list of schools narrowed down to five and that he wants to make a visit to all of the five at some point over the summer.

"I have things narrowed down to a top five so far," Lee said. "Arizona, LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Tennessee are the schools that I am most likely going to choose from. All of those schools have offered except Tennessee but I am pretty sure that they will offer."

When it comes to Arizona Lee admits that he does not know a whole lot about the school yet but what he has found out so far he likes.

"I know that the Pac-10 has sent a lot of quarterbacks to the NFL through the years," he said. "Arizona is a very good school and I like the style of offense that they run. I know they want to throw the ball a lot."

Lee is being recruited for Arizona by tight ends coach Dana Dimel and so far he seems to be doing a good job with the young quarterback.

"I think Coach Dimel is a really nice guy," he said. "We have sent some text messages and he is just a nice guy. He and Coach (Mike) Canales came to my school and watched me practice and from what I saw Coach Canales and Coach Dimel are both nice guys. I was really impressed with how they both carried themselves."

Jarrett when on to say that he I definitely going to visit Tucson at some point this summer so he can meet all of the coaches and see everything that he needs to see in order to get a good feel for the school and the city.

"I will visit there for sure this summer but I don't know when yet," said Lee. "I want to go out and see the coaching staff and the facilities and everything. I want to be able to communicate well with my coaches and I want to win so that is what I will be looking for in all of the schools. How well you communicate with and get along with your coaches means everything and who doesn't want to win."

Lee said that he has a 3.1 GPA and he recently took the ACT but he has yet to receive his scores. He said that he does not know what he wants to major in yet but it would, "most likely be something in Sports Science. Anything to do with sports is fine with me."
