Arizona fans knew that Lance Briggs and Clarence Farmer were great players. Now it seems that the national media is also aware. The two players were recognized by the Football News' All-American team.
Briggs, a senior linebacker, was named to the first team. He was the team's leading tackler and earned the team's Defensive MVP award last season. In addition, he was an All-Pac-10 selection for the second time. He is also a candidate for the 2002 Lombardi and Butkus Awards.
Farmer was named to the publications third team. The Pac-10's leading rusher last season, and was also awarded the team's Offensive MVP award.
Washington State's Derrick Roche, UCLA's Ricky Manning Jr. and USC's Troy Polamalu were other Pac-10 players on the first team.
The magazine also released its All-Pac-10 team. Briggs and Farmer were the only Wildcats named to the first team.
