Gary Ervin decommits

Gary Ervin, a 5-11 point guard headed to Notre Dame Prep (NY) this fall, reportedly committed to Mississippi State earlier this week.<BR>I spoke with Ervin briefly this morning and he told me "there was some confusion on the part of Mississippi State."

Ervin denied ever giving the Bulldogs a commitment. Here's the brief conversation we had:

Cat Tracks: Did you commit to Mississippi State?

Ervin: No, I never did commit. They've been (recruiting) me the longest and they thought I committed, but I'm still open.

Cat Tracks: Do the other coaches involved in your recruitment know this?

Ervin: I just spoke with (UA) coach (Rodney) Tention about 10 minutes ago, so he knows I'm still open.

Cat Tracks: What schools are still on your list?

Ervin: Arizona is still #1. I still like Mississippi State, Pitt, UConn and Alabama.

Cat Tracks: Is the summer basketball over for you?

Ervin: No I'm in an all-star game tonight at SIT College. I'm on the same team with Sabastian Telfair and Chris Taft.

Cat Tracks: You and Telfair are both point guards. Can you play at the same time?

Ervin: Yeh, when we play together he plays the two and I play the point.
