Kick off the football weekend on Friday

Washington comes to town and what better way to gear up for the game than by starting the night before? Set aside the tailgate preparation for just a bit and head down near campus for a pre-game celebration.

The Zona Zoo, the UA student section, is a proud host of Bear Down Friday's, the community pep rally. The event takes place at Main Gate Square on University Blvd between Park and Euclid.

From 4-8 pm on University Boulevard, come out and enjoy the live entertainment, games, prizes, discounts, fun, spirit, and more. You can even get a FREE copy of the Wildcat Sports Report magazine at the Zona Zoo booth.

The Pride of Arizona Marching Band will be on hand from 6-7pm to get you fired up for the game.

EA Sports will be having a gaming demonstration and will be giving away prizes. Z 104.1 is giving away 20 passes to get straight to the front of the line for auditions for "The Real World."

There will be a dunk tank, the car smash, the outrageous fan contest, as well as discounts, fun, and entertainment.

Michael Huston, director of the Zona Zoo, stresses that the event is not just for students.

"We want this to be an event for the whole community," Huston said. "We want everyone to come out, have a good time and support the Cats."

Many of the area businesses in the area offer discounts and giveaways during the event. There is plenty of parking, with two garages in the area.

Not enough pre-game fun for you? Several of the message board regulars are hosting a football round table. Join football editor Chris Bonney at the Texas Roadhouse on Wilmot near Broadway (near the Park Place Mall). It is a good way to talk football and meet some fellow Wildcat fans.
