Cats chop down the 'Jacks

Arizona rebounded from the Virginia loss with a 101-79 win over Northern Arizona at the McKale Center on Wednesday night. Just two days after upending Arizona State the Lumberjacks could not pull off the sweep of the Pac-10 Arizona schools.

Chase Budinger followed up a solid debut against the Cavaliers, with a monster performance. The freshman wing hit 5-of-6 three pointers on his way to 32 points. He also added seven rebounds.

The Cats ran out to a 10-point lead in the early stages of the game thanks to an early 8-0 run. The Cats led by double figures for most of the half, but the Lumberjacks slowly climbed back intot he game and a three-pointer by Deveric Taylor got NAU within six at 40-34.

The Cats led by just eight at the half, but scored the first six points of second half, and continued to pull away from there.

Arizona led by as many as 30, but a scoring drought late in the game allowed NAU to get the game within 20 points.

Mustafa Shakur rallied from a poor outing with a 20-point, 10-assist and eight rebounds.

Jawann McClellan and Ivan Radenovic chipped in 13 and 10 points respectively.

The only controversy may be with Marcus Williams. Williams was pulled from the game after taking a bad shot. He and Lute Olson seemed to have some sort of disagreement on the bench and the sophomore never returned to the game.
