New Positive Twist to Chris Rodgers Saga

After weeks of seemingly endless bad news, roadblocks and a pretty much hopeless situation, Arizona recruit Chris Rodgers might finally be closing in on some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Cattracks has learned from a very reliable source close to both Rodgers and the Arizona basketball program that the Portland area superstar guard still has a chance to wear a Wildcat uniform.

Chris Rodgers was recently classified as learning disabled (thus voiding his 20-points-short SAT score) and is now in the middle of the appeals process to the NCAA for full restoration of his eligibility.

Arizona assistant coach Rodney Tention, Rodgers' closest contact at the University, said this evening that he has spoken with Chris lately and that, "he still wants to come (to Arizona)."

Even though it's an outside shot as far as getting an NCAA ruling on his eligibility by the time classes start on the 26th, Rodgers could conceivably be fully eligible to play as a freshman. Games included.

Tention told Cattracks that more will be known on Monday about the ongoing situation but seemed optimistic.
