The young man on the phone asked, "Are you in Arizona? Well he's on his way there right now. He's at the airport".
In speaking with Tention, Cattracks learned that the member of the Rodgers' family was indeed telling the truth.
"Chris will be here tomorrow," said Tention, his chief recruiter. "Yes, I hope it's for good, I don't see why it wouldn't be. The NCAA will let us know the rest (eligibility-wise) later but for now it's better for him to be here than (in Portland)."
Tention said that Rodgers had second thoughts about skipping out on Arizona and playing in prep school and realized that it was best for him to be in Tucson this year. As for the possibility of redshirting, something Rodgers has stated that he doesn't want to do, Tention only said, "I don't even talk about redshirting. That's not my deal."
Now that Rodgers will be here in time for the start of classes this coming Monday, everything is in place for him to play as a freshman. At the very least he will participate in pickup games with the rest of the preseason No. 1 Wildcats in a week or so.
