*Oakland point guard Ayinde Ubaka (6-4, 190) might be coming to Tucson for an official visit for Midnight Madness this October. Nothing has been finalized but that date looks to be the most likely.
*Gary Ervin (5-11, 170 PG) recently contacted the coaching department and (according to a source close to the program) inquired further about the possibility of playing at Arizona next season. Ervin, a native of Brooklyn, New York, has some academic matters to clear up but could still wind up becoming a Wildcat if some things fall into place for him and if Arizona's top 2003 PG prospects (Mustafa Shakur and Ubaka) choose to play elsewhere.
*Keep the name Darius Washington in mind. The 6-0 guard from Florida is said to be absolutely in love with the Arizona program and its guard-rich tradition. Washington is a big time (let me stress "BIG TIME") scorer from either guard spot. He is a class of 2004 player so he has time to make a decision. Whether or not the Arizona staff feels the same way about him is unknown. However, the staff watched plenty of his games this summer and had to be impressed.
*As a reminder, the Wildcat coaches will hit the road starting September 9th for six in-home visits. Here is the tentative schedule and which coaches will join Olson on the trip.
September 9th-Ndudi Ebi (Houston). Olson and Josh Pastner.
September 10th-Brian Butch (Appleton, WI). Olson and Pastner.
September 11th-Mustafa Shakur (Wynnewood, PA). Olson and Rodney Tention.
September 12th-David Padgett (Reno, NV). Olson and Tention.
September 15th-Ayinde Ubaka (Oakland, CA). Olson and Tention.
September 16th-Ekene Ibekwe (Carson, CA). Olson and Tention.
*Shakur comes to Tucson for his official visit the weekend of September 13th-15th which means the coaches will have been with Shakur for four of five days at one stretch. That can't be a bad thing.
*During the present part of the year, coaches are allowed to call each recruit no more than once per week due to NCAA rules but recruits may call whoever they want at anytime.
