Around the Pac-10

Although a few teams in the Pac-10 were off for exams, the rest of the league was playing well. The league was 13-4, with three of those loses coming against ranked teams. Speaking of ranked teams, Oregon returns to the top-25 for the first time in over three years.

Arizona 7-1
Marquee Wins: Beat Illinois, Louisville, San Diego State
Bad Losses:None.
Last Week: The Wildcats beat Louisville in New York and downed San Deigo State on the road.
This Week: The Cats have just one game Saturday (12/17) hosting Houston.
Notes: Arizona has won seven consecutive games. All of the wins have been by seven points or more, and during the streak Arizona has outscored the opposition by an average of 17.1 points per game ... Over the last three games, Arizona has limited Illinois, Louisville and San Diego State to an average of 61.7 points per game. Additionally, those three teams have combined to shoot just 40.4 percent (78-of-193) from the floor, including 26.9 percent (18-of-67) from three-point range. Incidentally, UA held San Diego State to a season-low 48 points in Saturday's win, a figure that was 31.3 points below its season scoring average entering the game.

ASU 4-3
Marquee Wins: Beat Iowa 67-64
Bad Losses: Northern Arizona (71-75); Portland State (67-71)
Last Week: ASU has no games scheduled last week.
This Week: The Devils travel to Xavier on Saturday.
Notes: ASU assistant Archie Miller is the younger brother of Xavier head coach Sean Miller.

Cal 7-3
Marquee Wins: Hammered Kansas State 78-48
Bad Losses: San Diego.
Last Week: Cal had a rough week, losing to Nevada and San Diego. They lost to the Wolfpack 77-71 and San Diego beat them 72-67. They beat Chicago State 75-51.
This Week:The Bears do not play this week.
Notes: In its seven wins this season, CALIFORNIA is limiting the opposition to 36.6 percent shooting from the floor and 55.7 points per game.

Oregon 8-0
Marquee Wins: 57-50 win at Georgetown
Bad Losses: None.
Last Week:Oregon remained undefeated beating Nebraska and Bethune-Cookman.
This Week:The Ducks host Eastern Washington (12/15) and Idaho State (12/17) .
Notes: The Ducks are ranked for the first time since Jan. 27, 2003. Oregon State 6-4

Bad Losses:SE Louisiana
Last Week:OSU got over .500 by beating Bethune-Cookman and Western Oregon.
This Week: Oregon State gets their stiffest test when they face LSU.
Notes: In its five wins, Oregon State is shooting 132-of-289 (.457) from the field. In their four losses, the Beavers are shooting 88-of-240 (.367) from the field.

Stanford 6-1

Last Week:Stanford had the week off for finals.

Notes: The Huskies had their regular-season non-conference win streak end at 24 games when they lost at Gonzaga on Saturday. Oddly enough, Washington started the streak following a loss at Gonzaga on Dec. 1, 2005
