O'Dowd To USC

In the end it was an established program versus an up and comer. When the smoke cleared current success and a desire to leave home beat out potential and playing in front of friends and family.

Salpointe offensive lineman Kris O'Dowd chose USC over Arizona, UCLA and Tennessee. The five-star recruit felt that Los Angeles and USC was the place for him.

"I just felt like my future was at USC and so that's why I will be attending the University of Southern California," O'Dowd announced at his press conference.

While Wildcat fans will lament missing out on a homegrown player, they can take solace in the fact that the Wildcats were seriously in the hunt for his services. In fact, O'Dowd had nothing but glowing things to say about Mike Stoops and the Arizona program.

"The University of Arizona was the most difficult part of the process," he said while discussing having to inform the various coaching staffs of his decision. "They have the program heading in such a good direction and the future looks so bright but I just felt like I was needed somewhere else."
