Earlier in the week I outlined the candidates for the non-conference season All-Pac-10 team. It was a tough decision, as there are a number of big time players, but these are the top-10 in my opinion.
Arron Afflalo, SG, UCLA
Afflalo is the leading scorer on the nation's top-ranked team. If that is not enough, he is really getting the job done of the defensive end.
Ryan Anderson, PF, Cal The freshman big man is getting the job done, even while the Bears are losing players to injury. He leads Cal in scoring and rebounding and is probably the early season leader for FOY honors in the Pac-10.
Jon Brockman, PF, Washington One of the strongest players in the Pac-10. He is among the best rebounders and is tough to stop when he gets the ball down low.
Darren Collison, PG, UCLA
He is one of the two best point guards in the Pac-10 and a major reason the Bruins have not missed a beat after losing Jordan Farmar.
Spencer Hawes, C, Washington Right now he is the best center in the league. Along with Chase Budinger, Taj Gibson and Quincy Pondexter, Hawes should compete with Anderson for top freshmen honors.
Derrick Low, G, Washington State Truth be told he was the last guy I put on this team, but the Cougs deserved some recognition for their shocking start to the season and he has been their best player.
Ivan Radenovic, PF, Arizona Maybe the most underrated player on the Wildcats. All he does is lead them in scoring and rebounding, whole also providing great leadership.
Mustafa Shakur, PG, Arizona Finally coming into his own in his senior season. Shakur leads the Pac-10 in assists and is the key to one of the nation's top offenses.
Bryce Taylor, SF, Oregon Although he isn't the best scorer on Oregon, he is the most efficient and is doing a nice job on the boards.
Nick Young, SG, USC Consistently one of the best scorers in the Pac-10, he help lead the Trojans in the absence of ineligible Gabriel Pruitt.
Just missing the list: Chase Budinger, SF, Arizona; Quincy Pondexter, SF, Washington; Taj Gibson, PF, USC; Tajuan Porter, PG, Oregon; Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, F, UCLA; Marcus Williams, SF, Arizona.
