Brielmaier out 3-6 weeks

Arizona is not a deep team but their bench took a blow when Bret Brielmaier injured his knee on Thursday. Brielmaier underwent knee surgery on Monday and the Cats will be without the junior for a few weeks.

Brielmaier hurt his knee in Thursday's shoot around in a non-contract drill. After Monday's surgery he'll miss 3-6 weeks, but it could have been worse. There was originally thought that the injury might be season ending, but the surgery went about as well as it could.

Although Brielmaier was averaging only 1.5 points and 2.2 rebounds a game, he was the Wildcats' first big man off the bench and provided a physical player to compliment the more finesse Wildcats.

Although Jordan Hill has been seeing more time of late, the Wildcats will try to get more out of little used Fendi Onobun and Mohamed Tangara..

"There is no doubt that a guy like Jordan Hill will see more playing time," said assistant coach Josh Pastner. "Fendi (Onobun) and Mohamed (Tangera) have to be ready to go if they are called upon."

Hill played well against Washington State, logging 13 minutes and scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds in the loss to the Cougars.

"Jordan gave us some good minutes in the first half against Washington State," Pastner said.

Hill has played in 12 games, averaging 2.8 points and rebounds a game. Tangara has appeared in just seven games, while Onobun has played just six times this season.
