Big man exploring his top five

The Cats need a big man or two in the 2008 class. One of their top targets, if not their No. 1 target, is Luke Babbitt. Babbitt is making a Midwest visit this weekend and has a loose timetable for a decision.

Luke Babbitt, a 6-8 forward from Reno (Nevada) Galena will visit Ohio State this Saturday for the Buckeyes' game against Michigan State. Babbitt, who is down to five schools - Arizona, Gonzaga, Nevada, UCLA and Ohio State will be making his first trip to Ohio State.

"Luke is having a great season," said Tom Maurer, Babbitt's head coach at Galena High School. Babbitt is averaging 26.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Since offering a scholarship last month, Ohio State reportedly has watched Babbitt play on three occasions.

Babbitt will visit Ohio State and reportedly make a decision on a school before the summer, possibly shortly after his high school season ends in February. Babbitt has grandparents that live in Chillicothe, Ohio - about 45 minutes south of Columbus. He reports having numerous relatives living in Ohio where he grew up until the fifth grade.

He has already been on campus at Arizona, Nevada and UCLA.
