Coaching Changes, Coaches Hired?
With many members of the offensive coaching staff having left to take positions at other Universities, the latest being Line Coach Eric Wolford going to Illinois, there are two openings on the staff currently.
WildcatInsider.com has learned that Arizona will soon announce the hiring of Darrell Wyatt to replace Charlie Williams as the Wildcat's wide receivers coach. Wyatt has ties to Mike Stoops after having worked for Mike's brother Bob at Oklahoma. This past year Wyatt coached in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings.
No announcement has been made or set but one could come within the coming days.
The addition of Wyatt would leave just one opening left and our sources have indicated that a hire is close to being made or at least an agreement has been reached. We cannot divulge the name of the new assistant as he is currently on staff at another University and will not be able to join the Arizona staff until after National Signing Day, which is Wednesday, February 7th.
The Wildcats are waiting on many of their top prospects left on the recruiting board to make their decisions. Kaniela Tuipulotu, Nai Fotu, Adam Tello and Cam Jordan, among others, are all currently weighing their options.
Tuipulotu has narrowed things down to Hawaii, Utah and the Wildcats while Jordan has narrowed things down to a Pac-10 battle between the Cats and the Cal Golden Bears. Fotu will decide after he visits Arizona next week and he is considering the Cats and is still a soft commit to Utah. Tello will decide in the next week between the Arizona schools, Colorado and Fresno State.
The Wildcats are also slated to host Fotu and wide receiver Reggie Dunn on official visits this coming weekend. Dunn, who was offered late last week by the Cats, is being recruited by UA defensive tackles coach Mike Tuiasosopo.
