Johnson came out gunning early on and wound up throwing 30 passes before halftime, completing 16 of them for 316 yards and two scores.

In what looks like a completely different offense, the Wildcats used Johnson's accurate arm for 12 completions 15 yards or longer (16 total attempts were 15-plus yards).

Nine different receivers caught passes from Johnson with senior wideout Bobby Wade leading the way with eight receptions for 133 yards and two scores while Johnson was in the game.

Among the other impressive pass catchers were Lance Relford, Andre Thurman, Ricky Williams and Mike Bell. The Wildcats also passed to three of their tight ends, James Hugo had a 19-yard score, Justin Levasseur caught a pass for 22 yards and Steve Fleming had a pass intended for him broken up by an NAU defender.

Johnson's 381 yards were 46 yards short of equaling the school record set by Tom Tunicliffe in the early 80's.
