Dillon dinged

A quick decision was made on the status of Daniel Dillon. The junior guard was cited for DUI on Sunday and will not play against Purdue Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Dillon will accompany the team to New Orleans but will not be in uniform on Friday. His status for any further Tournament games is still up in the air.

Dillon issued a statement through the University where he apologized for his "recent actions", but no other specifics were given by the University or the player.

Dillon has been practicing with the team the past few days.

Dillon, 20, was pulled over early Sunday morning for speeding and was given a field sobriety test after he failed to stop when the officer turned on his emergency lights. Dillon finally pulled over when the officer turned on his siren.

After failing the field sobriety test, he was released to a passenger who passed the test.

This is the second DUI arrest for the Wildcats in the past 13 months. Last year Hassan Adams was cited for DUI just prior to the Pac-10 Tournament.

A reserve for the team, Dillon's minutes seem poised to go to Jawann McClellan and freshman Nic Wise.
